Community Leadership Awards
USGBC's Community Leadership Awards celebrate excellence from projects, people, and partners that are working to create better buildings and better lives for all in their local community. Nominations are open to all communities in the Big South region, including USGBC Virginia.
The state of Virgnia has long been a leader in green building, appearing on USGBC's prestigious list of Top 10 States for LEED for the past 10 years and counting. In 2022, Virginia ranked 8th, with 95 LEED projects totalling over 16 million gross square feet of LEED certified space and 1.88 gsf per capita.
Awards will be given in multiple categories. In order to apply for a USGBC Virginia award, projects must be located within the USGBC Virginia community territory, regardless of where the nominator or project owner are located. Projects that received a USGBC award in the last three years are not eligible. Project teams who have won awards in the past three years are welcome to submit new projects.
Award recipients will be announced and honored at USGBC Virginia's annual awards celebration in November 2023 (date and location TBD).
